Female and Male Terminals
1. The material of the female or male terminal shall be a copper alloy, or a plated copper alloy, nickel or nickel alloy.
Exception: if the construction of the appliance or apparatus permits, the female or male terminals may be electroplated plates or non-plated but corrosion resistant alloys.
2. If a formed female terminal or a trimmed male terminal is in the form of a terminal strip, the terminal will be curled and separated from the strip when the strip is placed continuously in the tool, in which case the edge where the terminal meets the strip does not need to be plated.
2 Standard terminals
The standard terminals used in the mechanical properties test in section 10, the pull-out terminal test and the insertion-pull-out test in section 11 shall be made of non-plated brass, equivalent to alloy C26000.
The standard terminals used in the temperature and thermal cycling tests shall be either tin-plated or corrosion resistant steel with a hardness of 68±5 on the Rockwell 30T hardness scale.
Exception: If the female terminal is only suitable for connection to the male terminal of a copper alloy, then the standard terminal of copper alloy C26000 should be used for this test. 2.3 Standard terminals made of brass have a hardness of 62±7 according to Rockwell 30T.
